How to cancel Duolingo Plus subscription
This guide shows how to cancel Duolingo Plus, stop the recurring payment, and keep your progress safe while switching back to free learning.
Your paid plan and learning account are separate
Canceling the paid plan is different from deleting your Duolingo account. Review the confirmation screen for the plan end date and account changes, and keep your login if you want to continue with the free experience. If the subscription was purchased through Apple or Google Play, make the change in that store and verify it there.
How to cancel via desktop browser
- Log into your account at Duolingo.com.
- Click your Username in the sidebar and select Settings.
- On the right-hand menu, click on Super Duolingo (or Duolingo Plus).
- Click Cancel Subscription and click through the exit prompts to confirm.
Keep access to the account you want
Use the same Duolingo login after the paid plan ends. If you are concerned about progress or account access, confirm the account and plan shown before approving cancellation; do not delete the account as a way to stop billing.

Frequently asked questions
Where should I cancel Duolingo Plus?
For direct billing, open Duolingo settings and manage the Super Duolingo or Plus plan. If Apple or Google Play billed the purchase, cancel it from that store's Subscriptions page.
How do I confirm Duolingo Plus is canceled?
Check the same billing source for the paid plan's end date or canceled status. Your Duolingo login is separate from the paid plan; verify you can still access the account you intend to keep.
What if I cannot complete cancellation for Duolingo Plus?
If Duolingo does not show billing controls, check the app-store account used at signup and the receipt. Do not delete your Duolingo account to stop a subscription.
Stop hidden charges before they happen
Compare Duolingo's recurring cost with the usage you record, and review the paid plan when your learning routine changes.
